REGURGITATING CURRICULUM:

Reading – in education – has often become the unpleasant task of sounding out words that have no meaning. “Learning” becomes the practice of repeating what is said by the teacher without the opportunity to evaluate it themselves. Reliance on authority makes obedient repeating robots, not self-determined, creative, future citizens, who will use their knowledge rather than become indoctrinated followers of those with power and the influence.

IF YOU CAN RESPOND BY REPEATING FROM MEMORIZATION, DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND?

In Beedeep’s World, reading is interesting and INTERACTIVE. It is discovering what the words means. It is personal involvement in learning. It is self-determined learning.

There is a PICTURE and below it is a word. The author asks you to say the word. You draw a picture of the word. It is YOUR picture, YOUR creation from what you have read.

This is just one example of how Beedeep’s World, will pull your child into a desire to read!

This should be the FIRST lesson a child learning to read should understand. Information is mine to use - not a “correct” verbal response or a memory test.

We do not need children who regurgitate curriculum, or repeat catchphrases told to them, we need children who know what the words mean, UNDERSTAND, and know how to USE their own words to communicate and be communicated to.
